About Us

For generations, the hillside towns of Landour and Mussoorie have been a heartbeat of the arts, featuring writers, poets, artists, filmmakers, and thought-leaders who have left an indelible impact on the region and the rest of the country. It is with the spirit of promoting, preserving, and finding inspiration from our Himalayan hamlets that we launched the Landour Literature and Arts Festisval [LLAF] in 2025. The festival is being organised by The Chakkar and Mussoorie Heritage Centre.

 

In 2026, LLAF will return for an expanded second edition, set to be held at the Ivy Bank Hotel in Landour on September 26-27. The festival will feature literary discussions, poetry readings, art installations, film, live music, and more, and will be attended by over 30 writers, artists, poets, musicians, activists, filmmakers, and thought-leaders for an illuminating and fun-filled two-day event.

Based largely out of Landour, The Chakkar is a celebration of India’s artistic creativity. Indie music, film, literature, theatre, art, sports, and more. The online journal features reviews, features, interviews, analytical essays, prose, poetry, photography, and much more, highlighting both established and upcoming Indian artists and thinkers. @thechakkar

The Mussoorie Heritage Centre has served as a memory bank for the hillside, holding exhibitions, hosting heritage walks, storing archives, and helping preserve a database of the town’s history, much of which exists at their storefront at the historic Clock Tower area. The MHC is managed by the art and history researcher Surbhi Agarwal, who has also hosted over a 100 speakers at the Landour Lecture Series around Mussoorie and Landour since 2012. @mussoorieheritagecentre
